✨ What We Hold in the Light

In moments of uncertainty and change, I’ve learned that light does what words cannot. When words become muted echoes, I reach for a flickering light. Something is soothing and special about lighting a candle, dutifully filling the room with a warm, glowing, meditative crackle. A candle rests gently and asks for nothing in return.
Each morning, I light a candle as I brew coffee, setting my intention for the day. In the evening, I light a candle to read and rest. I live by a new set of principles each year. Last Winter Solstice, I vowed in 2025 to focus on routines and rituals, to polish and glow, and to define and finish. I promised to create rather than consume. Since then, I have immersed myself in the transformative art of candle-making.
Candles do more than fill a space with charm and comfort to soften the edges of the day; they add cheer to celebrations, cherish sacred moments, and chime to brighten the darkness, when a warm, steady flame can offer hope and healing.
I have now poured and tested hundreds of candles. My favorite part is creating the new custom scent, following the curing process, striking the match to listen and watch the fruits of my labor. I discovered each candle I poured carried more than scent or wax. My passion also grounded me in the present.
At Candlelight Cottage, my sister and I often talk about what we hold in the light: the people we miss, the moments that shaped us, the hope that still flickers even when we’re tired. Every flame is a reminder that warmth can return, even to the darkest corners. I invite you to join us in this shared reflection.
Maybe you’ve found your way here because you’re healing, or remembering, or simply searching for stillness. I hope this becomes a quiet place for you — a pause, a breath, a bit of grace between everything else.
Here on Cottage Chronicles, I’ll share reflections on light, comfort, and the small rituals that remind us we’re still whole. Sometimes I’ll write about scent, sometimes about memory, sometimes about opportunities that reshape our strength. My aim is to provide a comforting space for you to find solace and inspiration.
Meanwhile, I’m building my inventory to share with all of you. Until then, light what you have and stay heart held.
